What’s Lurking in Your Makeup Bag?
We all know there is nothing cute about that lip gloss we’ve been holding on to since freshman year of college—nothing at all. Nevertheless, we’re clinging on to it like we’re clinging onto the lie that this is our natural hair color (don’t worry, we’re not telling).
We know it’s hard to let go: some of this stuff’s been with us longer than any boyfriend. Heck, some of it’s the reason we got him in the first place. But, don’t be fooled by memories of the glory days. Just like your elementary school best friend who turned on you as soon as puberty hit, old makeup has a shelf life and needs to be put in its rightful place.
As much as we love the stuff, that old makeup is not our friend. In fact, it’s a stealthy enemy—just sitting in your makeup bag, pretty and unassuming, all the while collecting bacteria that can cause ugly infections!
How well do you know your makeup facts? Research found that 9 out of 10 women use expired lipstick and mascara, so we’re all doing it, but this is not the bandwagon you want to be on.
To help educate women on the shelf life of beauty products, we’ve teamed up with Beauty Alert, the company that provides super simple labels that keep track of the expiration of your cosmetics, to see how much you know about what’s going on in your makeup bag.
Take this quick survey to test your knowledge now for your chance to win an assortment of Beauty Alert labels of your very own! We’ve got 10 up for grabs!
